Foundation

Founded in 2005, the MPMCSA Foundation is a non-profit corporation organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes.

One of the primary goals of the Foundation is to award scholarships to qualified individuals based on the guidelines set forth in the Foundation By-laws.

Scholarships

As one of our services to our members, MPMCSA awards merit scholarships. Applicants must be a graduating high school senior and the son or daughter of a MPMCSA Active Member or a child or an employee of an Active member. A high school senior working for an Active member may also qualify for a scholarship.

The program is intended to assist recipients to receive a higher education, and may be used at a Mississippi college or university of their choice.

The Mississippi Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Stores Association Foundation has awarded scholarships to the following:

Christina Brumfield

Christina Brumfield is the daughter of Pat and Tina Brumfield and was sponsored by Brumfield Oil Co. of McComb.

Christina is attending Millsaps College and plans to major in Pre-Med.

Extremely active in school and community activities, while attending McComb High School Christina was an Administrator’s Scholar, a member of Mu Alpha Theta Math Honorary Society Past President.  She was in the National Honor Society and the German Club.  She attended the Presidential Classroom in Washington, D.C. where she received college credit.  Christina was also named to McComb High’s Who’s Who Among High School Students in Athletics.

Christina was active in Student Ministry of Centenary United Methodist Church and was a camp counselor for Camp Provident in Anderson, N.C. and also at Camp Sunshine organized an Easter egg hunt for children of Military personnel of the 1^st Infantry-155^th Battalion and worked on mission teams to the MS Gulf Coast following Katrina.  She was selected the 2007 Azalea Queen for the McComb Garden Club.

Kristen Burnette

Kristen Burnette is the daughter of Ricky Lane and Tammy Lynn Burnette and was sponsored by Buffalo Services of McComb.

Ms. Burnette is attending the University of Mississippi where she plans to obtain a degree in special education.  While serving as a counselor at Camp Sunshine for three years Kristen realized that her passion and her career would be in this area.

Kristen is a graduate of Parklane Academy where she was extremely active in school and community activities.  She was a member of the Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and the National Honor Society.  She was also the recipient of Who’s Who Among American High School Students.  While in high school, Ms. Burnette served as Junior Class President, Senior Class Representative, First Priority President, Honor Society President, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Danceline Co-captain, Cheerleading, Frontline, Theater, Soccer, Track, Vispa and Diamond Girls.

Maria Cade

Maria Cade is the daughter of Robert Cullen and Laura Daniel Cade and was sponsored by Sanders Oil Company, Columbus.

Maria is a student at the University of Mississippi in Starkville and although her major is undecided at this time she is very dedicated to her studies.

A graduate of New Hope School, Maria was active in many school activities.  She was a member of the student council and Junior Beta.  She also performed with the New Hope Band as a flutist and later as a member of the Colorguard (flag core).

Maria continued her participation by becoming a member of the Senior Beta;  Serving on the annual staff; and as a member of the Teenage Republicans.
